A friend's challenge with cancer caused me to seek out images for Psalm 23 which led me here. Her life has enriched me so much. We met through a mutual friend and was surprised to know that we had the same political views. That started an hour a week on Saturday mornings on the phone discussing the news of the week. Many times her aged wisdom talked me off the ledge when it seemed all was lost.
We need the experience of those who have lived through the great depression and other difficult times as a nation to know that this too shall pass and we will be greater people for having held on to the old landmarks.
What stands out for me in Psalm23 is verse 4 which says Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
My selfish desire is that she would be healed and we continue our conversations, but God's will be done in her life. I'm thankful for the privilege to have shared Jesus with Maggie whatever the outcome.
We move forward with hope and triumphant praise that her soul is in God's hands.
